Union Home Minister Shri Amit Shah held a review meeting took a detailed review of various development schemes and projects on Wednesday. His visit was deemed to be a historic one as the separatists in the state for the first time in 30 years did not call for a bandh.

Union Home Minister Shri Amit Shah held a review meeting took a detailed review of various development schemes and projects on Wednesday. His visit was deemed to be a historic one as the separatists in the state for the first time in 30 years did not call for a bandh.

The Governor Satya Pal Malik, Union Home Secretary, all the four Advisors, Chief Secretary and Senior officials of the State and Central Government were present in the meeting.

He had also held a security review meeting with regards to the Amarnath Yatra in the state.


The development review meeting focused on accelerating development, building infrastructure, good governance, inclusive growth for all communities, employment generating scheme for the youth to name a few.

Asking officials to ensure that the poorest of the poor of Jammu and Kashmir should get the benefits of Good Governance in every spheres, he directed them to strictly endorce the State Public Service Delivery Act and publicise widely its services, strengthen the Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB), work towards employment generation in the state.

He also instructed that more services be added in the State Public Service Delivery Act. He said that newly established ACB should take up on priority cases of graft against influential people and fast track them.

With regards to employment, he said that all vacancies in the State Government should be filled in a timely manner and investments for large scale employment opportunities for the local youth must be attracted towards the state.

Well-known educational and health institutions must also be encouraged to establish their institutions in Jammu and Kashmir.

He asked the state officials to be sensitive towards bringing balanced development of all the three regions - Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh. He said that they must have inclusive approach towards all communities, and especially make sure that no group such as Border Population, Migrants, SCs/STs feel neglected, also including Socially and Educationally backward classes, Residents of Backward areas and economically weaker sections of the society.

He said that Public hearing programs must be supervised by the Advisors, Secretaries and Collectors and the public hearings must happen at a fixed time. He said that this must be enacted at the Village, Tehsil, Sub Division, Division, District  and Secretariat levels.

The Centre has sanctioned 82% funds out of Rs. 80,068 crores for 63 projects in the state. The key projects include 2 AIIMS, 2 IIMs, IIT, Ring Roads in Jammu and Srinagar, widening and strengthening of national highways, tourism, health and power projects etc. He said that all the major development projects announced by the Prime Minister should be completed in a time bound manner.

Home Minister Shah also said that he would regularly review the performance achieved in all the development projects.
