Union Home Minister Amit Shah during a meeting on Monday reviewed the security situation in Jammu and Kashmir. In the two-hour-long meeting, Amit Shah was given a detailed presentation on the prevailing security situation in Jammu and Kashmir, particularly along the International Border and the Line of Control (LoC). He was also briefed about the steps that will be taken to maintain peace along with border areas as well as in the Valley, a security official said.
'Pakistan army guiding terrorists'
Lieutenant General Kanwal Jeet Singh Dhillon, General Officer Commanding, 15 Corps, had recently said there have been infiltration attempts from across the border. “The launchpads in PoK have been full — tanzeems including LeT, JeM, Hizbul and Al Badr, frequently come to Pakistani posts. Every day, there are firing. Attempts of infiltration are also made in Poonch, Rajouri and Jammu sectors,” he had said.
Earlier in an exclusive interview with Republic TV, Lt Gen K.J.S. Dhillon had also exposed Pakistan sponsored terror post abrogation of Article 370 and 35A in Jammu & Kashmir. He said that the terrorists were housed in a Pakistani Army post close to the LOC and were guided by the Pakistani army right up to the LOC. That is when the Indian Army apprehended the terrorists. "They had some very nefarious designs, sensitive details are coming out in the initial questioning. However, the detailed investigation will be done by the specialist agencies as and when they take them away," Lt Gen KJS Dillon added.
Normalcy in Srinagar
Restrictions were lifted from most parts of Jammu & Kashmir on September 11 and some areas in Srinagar city witnessed an increased presence of private transport leading to traffic jams but schools remained closed and public transport was off the roads, officials said. Few auto-rickshaws and inter-district cabs were also seen plying in some areas of the city. The officials said restrictions have been lifted from most areas of the valley, but security forces continued to be deployed to maintain law and order. The landline services across J&K was functional, voice calls on mobile devices were working only in Kupwara and Handwara police districts of north Kashmir. Internet services remained suspended across all platforms.
