'I don't need your certificate', Union Minister Nitin Gadkari hits out at Rahul Gandhi for his 'guts' comment

'He has guts', said Congress president Rahul Gandhi on Monday complimenting Union minister Nitin Gadkari for his remark that "one who cannot take care of home, cannot manage the country". However, Union minister has responded back saying that 'I don't need your certificate'.

Taking a dig at Congress President, BJP senior leader tweeted:

"Rahul Gandhi Ji, I don't need your certificate for my strength, however, I am amused to see that even after being the President of a national party you have to resort to the twisted news in media to attack our government".

Earlier, addressing workers of the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP), the student wing of RSS, Gadkari had said that those who cannot do deliver at home, “cannot manage the country”.

“I meet many people who say we want to devote our lives for the BJP, for the country. I asked (one such person) what do you do, and who all are there in your family. He said I have closed my shop as it was not doing well... there is wife at home, children. I said (to him) first take care of your home, because one who cannot manage his home cannot manage the country,” Gadkari had said.

Rahul Gandhi tagged a media report on the minister’s remark on Twitter, praised his courage and came up with a list of three topics that he wanted the minister to speak about. The Rafale fighter jet deal was on the top of this list.

Moreover, Congress spokesperson Manish Tewari had last week lauded Gadkari for his remarks that "leaders who fail to fulfil promises get 'beaten up' by people", but at the same time took a swipe at him saying his target was Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his eyes were on the PM's chair.

In December, Gadkari had said at an event in Pune that leadership should have the tendency to own up defeat and failures. The remarks had come days after the BJP's loss in Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh assembly polls.

Incidentally, Rahul Gandhi was seen exchanging notes with Gadkari while being seated along with him in the front row at the Republic Day parade at Rajpath.
