Indian Railways to run 200 special trains ahead of the festive season
Indian Railways has announced that it would run 2,500 special services trains to ensure safe and smooth travel for the passengers ahead of the festive season

Ahead of the festive season in the country, Indian Railways has announced that it will run 2,500 special services to ensure safe, smooth and comfortable travel for all passengers who are travelling to their native place to celebrate the festivities with their family.
Railway Minister Piyush Goyal also informed about the special service announcement on his official Twitter handle.

The Ministry of Railways also released a press release informing about the special services ahead of the festive season and other measures taken by the railways to ensure the best connectivity of the trains. According to the press release, the Indian Railways will be running 200 pairs of special trains from Durga Puja till Christmas this year. Apart from the special trains, the Indian Railways is also working on the augmentation of coaches in regular trains to ensure the berth availability during this festive rush.
According to the press release, “May I Help You” booths will be available at important stations and RPF Personnel and TTEs are deputed to provide proper assistance and guidance to the passengers. The railways have also deployed additional RPF personnel on major stations to ensure the security of passengers.
Railways to provide WiFi inside trains
The Indian Railways is eyeing to provide WiFi services onboard trains for its next milestone. Union Minister Piyush Goyal, who is on a visit to Stockholm, said that the railways will provide the new services in the next four to four-and-a-half years. According to Piyush Goyal, as of now, over 5,150 railway stations across India are enabled with WiFi services. However, the railways aim to cover all 6,500 stations by 2020-end and provide WiFi services.
