One of the inescapable aspects of being a pet-owner is the desire to introduce one's pet to new experiences, watching them frolick without being constantly terrified that some harm will befall them, and also, watch them interact with other animals. Unfortunately, destination environments for this in India are comparatively few and far between. Now, however, there's some joy for dog-owners, at the very least, as a the country's first Dog park has opened in Hyderabad!

India's first dog park, which has been certified by the Kennel Club of India -- a registry of Purebred Dogs that is a member of the International Organisation for Standardization (ISO) --  was inaugurated on Thursday and looks like a wonderland for canines!

The park is equipped with some wonderful features, including a large green play area complete with doggie-obstacles, an amphitheatre, walking track and even splash pools, for them to cool off! Above all else, it's shaped like a bone! The entrance of the park contains a statue of what appears to be an enormous mastiff-sort of dog.

As per Telangana Chief Minister KCR's son KTR, who is also a state minister with a number of key portfolios including urban development, had posted about the dog park being completed in September 2018. At that time he had said that it was converted from a small dump yard. It has a space of 1.3 acres at a cost of Rs 1.1 crore. He had also posted a number of photos from the park.

Here are all the pictures from the park:

(The entrance flanked by small dog statues and patrolled by a big one who will let any newcomers know who the boss is!)

(A top view showing the plan for the park -- notice the bone shape. Presumably, the splash pool is on the bottom right corner)

(A look at some of the obstacles in the park. They appear to be very similar to those in dog competitions and shows)

(Another look at the obstacles. The surface appears to be artificial turf. 'Sorry dogs, no digging!')

(People at the inauguration, trying out the obstacles)
