Garima Abrol, wife of Squadron Leader Abrol who was killed earlier this year while testing the flight of a Mirage 2000 fighter jet in Bengaluru, has cleared the Services Selection Board, paving the way for her to join the Indian Air Force.

She is set to join the Air Force Academy in Telangana's Dundigal, and then, the Indian Air Force in January 2020.
Anil Chopra, a Retired Air Marshal, announced on the news on Twitter. He called Ms Abrol a "woman of exceptional substance" in his Tweet and also added pictures of the couple followed by a recently taken picture of her, post-training.
Squadron Leader Samir Abrol, 33, and Siddhartha Negi, 31, were killed after their Mirage 2000 fighter jet crashed during its take-off run on February 1. The two young pilots perished despite the fact that they had been able to eject as the French-designed jet broke through a barrier and exploded as it careened down the runway, with the pilots getting caught in the flames..
The accident causing flight, Mirage 2000 had been flown successfully six times by HAL test pilots who had certified the French-designed fighter which is being comprehensively upgraded in India.
