In a major revelation, Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis said that the investors of the Barsu refinery have moved to Pakistan. He also revealed that there is a set pattern by a few protesters against the development project in Maharashtra. He further mentioned that there is a group of people who are present at every protest site and the investigation reveals that they are being funded from Bangalore.

Recently, a survey was carried out by the local authorities in Barsu Ratnagiri where the refinery is set to be located. Several local villagers were detained by the police but none of them were booked in any case. Former Maharashtra chief minister Uddhav Thackeray also visited the place and extended his support to the protesters.

While addressing a question over the refinery in the upper house on Friday, Devendra Fadnavis said, “I want to tell this very clearly that the refinery will come up in Ratnagiri as it is for the benefit of Maharashtra. Due to the delay in the project, the investors who were supposed to invest in this project moved to Pakistan. It's true that a few villagers protested while the bore holes were taken, few tried blocking the roads.”

“I want to tell the opposition that there are few people who are against the development of the country, we have found that some people were present in the Aarey Protest and the same group of people were involved in the protest against the Bullet Train Project and now they are protesting against Barsu refinery. There were also a few people who were there in the Narmada protest. I don't want to name them but when we traced them, we found that they have visited Banglore more often. They are getting funds in their account from Banglore. The Green Peace Organisation which is a banned organisation, the ex-cadet of this organisation is connected to these people.”

“The protest is not just limited to the villagers. I am not against any villagers and we are not against anyone who is opposing it but every Incident has another aspect that we need to understand as well. If there is any objection we will fix it, but we can't stop the development which can boost the economy for the next 20 years of the state. When the matter reached the court, none of the villagers or the complainants against this project said that they had been manhandled by the authorities, and hence I am telling this in front of everyone that we will take everyone in confidence and move ahead with this project,” Fadnavis added.
