The Border Security Personnel in Jammu and Kashmir lit earthen 'diyas' and lamps on the eve of Diwali in Samba District. The BSF personnel also recited Bhajans (devotional songs) and other songs to celebrate the festival.
'We are so lucky to work for our nation and its citizens'
Speaking about the officers missing celebrating the festival with their families, an officer said he is happy to be working for the safety of the country.
"I thank God that we got an opportunity to work for our nation, wearing this uniform. BSF personnel celebrate Diwali together like a family. There is no need to fear when BSF is here for the people,they should celebrate Diwali with joy and enthusiasm," said a BSF officer. "We do miss our families but we are so lucky to work for our nation and its citizens, everyone doesn't get this opportunity," he added.
"I would like to convey a message to the public that they should celebrate Diwali with joy and happiness as we are here to protect them," he further added.
BSF officers at Poonch celebrate Diwali
The Border Security Force personnel at Jammu and Kashmir's Poonch District also held Diwali celebrations. The officers celebrated the festival with sweets and were also seen dancing to songs.
PM Modi to celebrate Diwali with Jawans
Prime Minister Narendra Modi is also expected to visit another forward area on Sunday to celebrate Diwali with the soldiers, according to sources. In 2018, he had celebrated the festival with the Jawans of Indian Army and Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) at Harsil village near the India-China border.
