The proxy war started by Pakistan has not come to an end and the security forces, especially the Jammu and Kashmir Police, will continue to fight the enemies of the nation and safeguard its integrity and sovereignty. This was stated today by the General of the Jammu and Kashmir Police, Dilbag Singh while reviewing the security situation in the Ganderbal district of Kashmir. He stressed that Pakistan was in no way 'a friend' to the people of Jammu and Kashmir as it constantly disrupted peace and order in the territory bringing death and destruction to the people of Kashmir.

“The proxy war thrust upon us from Pakistan has not come to an end. The J&K Police and other security forces are continuously fighting it and we will continue to fight for the security and integrity of our nation,” He said.

Singh asked his Officers and Jawans to place close attention to foiling the 'inimical acts' of Pakistan that could prove to be disruptive in the peace and prosperity of Jammu and Kashmir. He stressed that their priority is to uproot the subversion and terrorism from the ground level so that the civilians could live in peace. While addressing the Jawans, the DGP complimented them along with the officers and Jawans of Police, Army and CAPF for their absolute dedication and tireless efforts towards maintaining peace and order in their assigned areas.

“During the previous years, particularly in 2010 and 2016, J&K Police faced a tough situation on the law and order front. This time around, the force has worked with extreme professionalism in maintaining the law and order in Jammu and Kashmir,” said the DGP.

Dilbag Singh stated that in last 30 years there have been a lot of ups and downs in the security situation in Kashmir but the police personnel, along with other security forces have always taken up these challenges bravely and dealt with them strongly. The DGP also said that the security forces, through their strong leadership across hierarchies, have contributed in one way or another in maintaining normalcy in Kashmir as well as dealing with anti-national elements appropriately.  He spoke on how the Police personnel have remained at the forefront of maintaining peace and public order without thinking twice about their own comfort or their personal wishes like celebrating festivals with their families. Dilbag Singh said that the good work done by the J&K Police and the other forces is being recognized at every platform including the Government of India. He also stated that the Police Headquarters was working on other requirements of the Police personnel.

“Some grievances of the forces like the hike in SPOs salary, the hardship allowance or the pay anomaly have already been redressed,” he said.

He talked about how they have been looking for every opportunity to promote their personnel and look out for more such promotion avenues. In the annually held Central Police Welfare Meetings, steps are taken to contribute and take care of the welfare of the SPOs and retired policemen and the same would be their priority in future as well. The DGP now wants his officers to take on a drive against drugs in the state. This would be their main mission until the problem is completely uprooted from the society. He said that the Police is strengthening its bonds with the civilians, who are in turn supporting the force in their fight against drugs.

"Whenever the role of J&K Police is lauded, I feel proud of the force as its head. J&K Police has faced every challenge with utmost courage and a professional outlook," he said.
