J&K: Govt to release 3 Kashmiri politicians from detention on Oct 10
Over two months after the Centre revoked Article 370 in Jammu and Kashmir, the administration is set to release three political leaders detained since August 5

Over two months after the Centre revoked the special status to Jammu and Kashmir, the administration is set to release three political leaders detained since August 5. The officials informed on Wednesday night, that politicians Yawar Mir, Noor Mohammed and Shoaib Lone will be released on various grounds. Explaining the reason for ending their detention, the officials added that the politicians will have to sign bonds upon their release.
Yawar Mir is a former MLA of the PDP from Rafiabad assembly seat. Considered close to People’s Conference chief Sajjad Lone, Shoaib Lone contested unsuccessfully on a Congress ticket from North Kashmir. He later went on to resign from the Grand Old Party in J&K. Noon Mohammed is a National Conference worker managing the party’s show in the Batmaloo area of the Srinagar city. As per the officials, before their release from detention, the politicians will be signing a bond to maintain peace and good behaviour.
Earlier on September 21, the J&K administration under governor Satya Pal Malik had released People's Conference leader Imran Ansari and Syed Akhoon over health concerns. Meanwhile, over thousands of people, including politicians, activists and lawyers are under detention by the administration since August 5, in the after of government's decision to abrogate Article 370 in Jammu and Kashmir. Three former chief ministers and senior leaders Farooq Abdullah, Omar Abdullah of National Conference and Mehbooba Mufti of the PDP are still under detention.
J&K politicians to be released soon
Earlier on October 3, Advisor to J&K Governor Farooq Khan had stated that detained leaders will be released soon from detention. Khan added that the politicians will be released after individual analysis of each one of them. However, he did not state the date of their release.

NC delegation meets Farooq Abdullah
A 15-member National Conference (NC) delegation met party chief Farooq Abdullah, who has been under house arrest in J&K. The delegation was granted permission by the J&K to meet the former CM. News agency ANI released the first visuals of the NC delegation meeting Farooq Abdullah at his residence in Srinagar. Farooq Abdullah's wife Molly also joined the meeting with the NC delegation, which consisted of senior leaders of the party including Hasnain Masoodi and Akbar Lone.
