Mamata Banerjee Celebrates the Third Anniversary
Mamata Banerjee celebrated the third anniversary of the handing over parchas (documents) of lands forcibly acquired back from the farmers on September 14. Lands were acquired from the farmers against their will by the Left Front government for Tata's Nano factory in Singur. The CM took to Twitter to wish everyone, tweeting, "Today marks the third anniversary of the historic day when our Govt of Bangla handed over to farmers the parchas of land forcibly acquired in Singur." The parchas were handed over to 9,117 farmers and cheques were given to 806 people of Singur. The Trinamool Congress described the occasion as a 'historic day' for West Bengal. Maa, Mati, Manush (Mother, Motherland and People) was a political slogan coined by Banerjee before 2009 General Elections. It eventually became the signature slogan of Banerjee and her party.
Today marks the third anniversary of the historic day when our Govt of #Bangla handed over to farmers the parchas of land forcibly acquired in Singur. We reiterate our commitment to the welfare of farmers, alongside promoting industry. My humble pronam to Maa, Mati, Manush
