MASSIVE: Women to be inducted as jawans in Corps of Military Police in Army, announces Raksha Mantri Nirmala Sitharaman

The Defence Minister Nirmala Sitharaman has taken the decision to induct women as jawans in Corps of Military Police in Army. 

The women will be inducted in a graded manner to eventually comprise 20% of total Corps of Military Police of the Army. The news was announced from Raksha Mantri's official Twitter handle.

This year on Army Day, women stole the show as for the first time in history, a woman, Lieutenant Bhavana Kasturi headed the parade of an all-male army contingent, comprising of 144 men.  

In another first, a female officer saluted the guests while leading the Army's 'Daredevils Motorcycle Display' team. Captain Shikha Surabhi led the team of 33 men, the team that is famous for performing stunts.
