Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) Supremo Mayawati on Wednesday has slammed the BJP government on Twitter, alleging that the special session of Uttar Pradesh Legislative Assembly convened on the 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi is just an attempt by the State government to hide its failures due to ineffective governance in the State.

In a tweet, she said, "Holding a special session of the UP Legislative Assembly on Gandhiji's 150 birth anniversary is not to deliberate on his works but to hide the failures of its government by the BJP. This is why BSP has deployed its MLAs in the real public service to help the flood victims."

Mayawati slams Congress

In another tweet, Mayawati has slammed Congress for staying in power for the longest period of time in the Centre and various States, yet not been able to deliver on Mahatma Gandhi’s dreams for the nation. She has also taken a dig at Congress for conducting a march on the eve of the 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi.

She tweeted, "In spite of being in power for the longest time in various States including Uttar Pradesh and Centre, when Congress party could not realise Gandhiji's dreams even a little bit then what can they now do by holding marches while being out of power. The same situation is being seen in the BJP government. The public needs to remain alert.”

36-hour long Marathon discussion

To mark the 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, a special Uttar Pradesh Assembly session is being held in which a 36-hour marathon discussion would take place on development goals. However, BSP legislators were missing from the session.

Mayawati-led BSP was the first party to declare its candidates for by-elections seat in Uttar Pradesh. Mayawati is now busy with the upcoming assembly elections of Haryana and the party has come out with the list of 41 candidates to contest the Haryana Assembly elections.
