Meghalaya IAS Officer sets example for ‘Fit India’, netizens applaud
Meghalaya: IAS officer Ram Singh is the perfect inspiration towards leading a cleaner, greener and healthier lifestyle, walks 10kms every week to buy vegetables
Ram Singh, the Deputy Commissioner of West Garo Hills, Tura in Meghalaya, shared a post on Facebook where the IAS officer can be seen buying vegetables carrying a bag made of bamboo. The video has gone viral on social media. The officer is the perfect example of inspiration towards leading a cleaner, greener and healthier lifestyle. Ram Singh walks 10 kilometres every week to buy organic vegetables from the local vendors.

Facebook user Robert G Lyngdoh wrote, “This is the new face of Indian Bureaucracy. I am inspired. I guess the new breed of bureaucrats are very adoptive and act more as an influencer through social media, especially when they are posted in remote areas. An officer in heartland India would never be able to do this even if he/she wanted to.”

PM Modi's 'Fit India Toh Hit India'
Prime Minister Narendra Modi spoke about health consciousness and said that it is all about what the mind decides. Further sharing that if one has decided that they will not get tired and will not stop at any point, then the body functions in that manner. He also mentioned that the body takes time to get adapted to the entire routine but if health consciousness is evoked then a person keeps themselves away from everything that harms the body.
Celebrities support initiative
Several celebrities and renowned athletes supported Prime Minister Narendra Modi's 'Fit India Movement' initiative. Shilpa Shetty, who is known for being a fitness junkie in and around Bollywood, recently urged fans and netizens to come forward and take part in Prime Minister's 'Fit India' movement. Badminton World Champion PV Sindhu, who won her maiden gold for India at the BWF World Championship recently too urged people to take to fitness and follow a healthy lifestyle saying that fitness is crucial for everyone, one should spare at least some amount of time for fitness. Also, two-time Olympian Sushil Kumar and boxer and six-time world champion Mary Kom were seen supporting the initiative.
