Sonia Gandhi attacks RSS
Earlier, Sonia Gandhi on Wednesday addressed the gathering at Raj Ghat on the occasion of the 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi. The interim Congress president used the occasion to slam the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS). She said that forces as the RSS was steering the country towards its ideology using Gandhi's name. She said that India did not stray from its path laid by the Mahatma as his ideals were instilled in the people of the country.
"It is easy to take Gandhiji's name on the 150th anniversary. We are proud that India has reached its position by walking on the path carved out by Gandhiji. It is easy to talk about Gandhi, but not easy to walk his path. To lead India away from Gandhi's path by using his name and steer the nation towards their own ideologies has happened in the past too."
"But in the last few years, the business of 'Sam Dam Dand Bhed' has been going on openly and the forces behind it think that they are powerful. Despite this, India did not stray, that is because in Gandhi ideals are instilled in Indians. They want RSS than Gandhi to be the symbol of India. I want the diverse culture of our country to prevail, nothing else should seep into Gandhiji's ideologies," she said.
