MoS Home Reddy inaugurates gallery for specially-abled artists' works

Minister of State G Kishan Reddy on Tuesday inaugurated an art gallery in Delhi which showcases art created by differently-abled artists from across the country

Minister of State for Home Affairs, G Kishan Reddy inaugurated the 'Not Just Art' at UNESCO Cluster House situated in Delhi's Chanakyapuri area on Tuesday. The art gallery displays the art by specially-abled artists

"The art gallery had visual art done by artists with a disability who came from all across India to showcase their amazing talent with colour and form," a press release of the event said.

The event also saw director and UNESCO Representative to Bhutan, India, Maldives, and Sri Lanka Eric Falt.
While speaking at the event, Falt said, "Enabling the participation of persons with disabilities in artistic and cultural life is a key priority for UNESCO... Discovering Ability is an important initiative and signals our commitment to empowering persons with disabilities to become both mainstream consumers and producers of art forms."

Multiple specially-abled artists from across the nation were also given a cash prize of Rs 50,000, a trophy, and a certificate at the event.

"To honour the talent of artists with disability, the first edition of 'Discovering Ability' art awards was organized by Not Just Art, in association with UNESCO and HSBC. The award aims to celebrate the artistic abilities of persons with disabilities, who have hitherto remained a largely unrecognized talent pool," the press release said.

G Kishan Reddy on Gandhi Ji's ideas

To celebrate 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, Minister of State for Home Affairs G Kishan Reddy, along with his fellow party leaders and workers, participated in a 'Gandhi Sankalp Yatra' in Hyderabad on October 26. The event was aimed at promoting the Mahatma's ideals like non-violence and cleanliness. It also focused on raising awareness about the harmful effects of single-use plastic.

While talking to the media on October 26, the Union Minister said, "We aspire to build a 'New India'. Under PM Modi's Gandhi Sankalp Yatra initiative, the BJP wants to propagate Mahatma Gandhi's ideology and his principles of non-violence, Swaraj and simplicity among the people of the country." The Union Minister also urged people to shun single-use plastic citing its harmful effects. The party workers from across the country are expected to travel 150 kilometres till October 31 to spread the values of the Mahatama to the people.
