Mumbai Building Collapse: Dongri death-toll rises to 14; Maharashtra govt announces Rs 5 lakh ex-gratia, NDRF continues search

The country was shocked with report of another building collapse in Mumbai when on Tuesday portion of a 100-year-old building collapsed in the Dongri area of Mumbai . As many as 40 people were trapped under the debris. Sources said that the collapse happened due to incessant rains in the city. Till Tuesday night, 10 people were reported as dead and around 8 dead, as per reports by Mumbai Police. Following the incident Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Tuesday announced ₹5 lakh for next of kins of deceased and ₹50,000 for the injured. CM Fadnavis also stated that all medical expenses of the injured will be borne by Govt of Maharashtra.
On Wednesday, National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) team carriesd out search operation with the help of sniffer dogs, at Kesarbhai building collapse site. It is sasid that few people may still be trapped under the debris. AS per NDRF's report at 07:00 hours on Tuesday death toll has gone up to 14.

MHADA also issued a collapse report of the building which confirms that the portion of the building was unauthorised. In MHADA's collpase report it said that Unauthorised portion behind Building number 25 C, backside portion of Nishanpada road, 1st, 2nd and 3rd was fully collapsed. It stated that the repair work was not taken up since the building is unauthorised.
CM Fadnavis on Tuesday had said that the main focus is to rescue the people trapped under the debris and, "As per the initial information, nearly 15 families are feared to be trapped because of a building collapsed in Dogri. The focus now is on the people stuck beneath the debris. This will be investigated once everything becomes clear".
In the initial visual of the building collapse,NDRF team was carrying out rescue operation at Kaiserbai near Tandel street, behind Abdul Hamid Shah Dargah, Dongri, Mumbai. Meanwhile, Prime Minister Modi and all other prominent leaders expressed their grief on the shocking incident
