Mumbai prepares for Cyclone Vayu's effects, authorities warn of a windy afternoon and tell citizens to stay away form the sea
Mumbai city is preparing itself to face the monsoon rains that are forecasted to begin from June 13, as authorities and officials are asking citizens to take precaution and be safe. The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted an extremely windy afternoon resulting from the movement of Cyclone Vayu towards India's west coast.
According to the Indian Meteorological Department(IMD), Mumbai is forecasted to experience cloudy skies with moderate rains or thundershowers in the afternoon and in the evening with the maximum and minimum temperature at 34 degrees and 24 degrees respectively.

The Commissioner of Police for Mumbai city, Sanjay Barve, took to Twitter to ask citizens to maintain distance from the seashore and to not go into the sea, as Mumbai is forecast to experience a windy afternoon leading from the movements of Cyclone Vayu. He also advised against parking under weak or old trees. Here's the tweet of the official:
The disaster management wing of the Bombay Metropolitan Corporation(BMC) also sent out a series of advisories on social media, asking the citizens to remain alert and safe, while assuring them that the BMC was fully prepared to meet the rains and extreme weather that is expected.
They had earlier launched an application that could be used to report emergencies and get real-time updates.
