Non-stop rainfall for over two days has brought Mumbai to a standstill, with several parts of the city submerges under water. Amid the heavy rains, NCP (Nationalist Congress Party) leader Nawab Malik on Monday took to Twitter and took a sharp jibe at the Shiva Sena-headed Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) after his residence in Mumbai's Kurla region got water-logged.
Sharing pictures of his house, located along LBS Marg in the eastern suburb of Kurla, which can be seen under knee-length water, Nawab Malik thanked the BMC in a sharp attack at Shiv Sena and BJP-run Maharashtra government.
In another tweet, Nawab Malik tagged Shiv Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray, office of Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and the BMC, saying "Karun dakhavla (have done it)".
Notably, 'Karun dakhavla' is a slogan the Uddhav-Thackeray-led Shiv Sena previously used for its poll campaigns which suggested that it had kept promises made to the people.
"The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation's (BMC) incomplete drainage cleaning works is responsible for the situation. Mumbai is also bedevilled by the on-going metro works. So, both the BMC and the state government are responsible for the woes of Mumbaikars," Malik said while speaking to news agency PTI.
Meanwhile, over 100 flights have been cancelled and diverted from the Mumbai airport due to incessant rain in the city. Several parts in the city are facing waterlogging and flooding due to heavy rainfall.
