Nitish Kumar changes poll campaign slogan after RJD's 'thikke' comment
Days after the RJD criticised Nitish Kumar's 2020 poll campaign slogan, JD(U) has modified its slogan to counter the narrative that is being produced by RJD.
Days after the RJD criticised Nitish Kumar's 2020 poll campaign slogan, JD(U) has modified its slogan to counter the narrative that is being produced by Lalu Prasad Yadav's party. The 2020 Bihar election campaign slogan of the JD(U) was spotted on various banners outside the JD(U) head office. The slogan read - Kyun Kare Vichar, Thikke toh hai Nitish Kumar." (Why to think, Nitish Kumar is fine.) As the RJD slammed the party saying that JD(U) has accepted its defeat by calling Nitish Kumar fine (thikke) and not good, the party has now put up new banners with new slogan that reads - Kyu kare vichaar jab hai hi Nitish Kumar (Why to think when we have Nitish Kumar.)
RJD criticises JDU on its new slogan
As the party introduced its slogan, Lalu Prasad Yadav's RJD had criticised Nitish Kumar. Highlighting that the word 'thikke' (fine) means its 'kaam chalau' (somethings that works somehow), RJD had said that now the people of Bihar will not compromise and will vote for a youth with vision. Although RJD hinted to its leader Tejashwi Yadav, he has himself been away from the active political scene after his party's drubbing in general elections 2019. The RJD had also written a four line poetry critisising the poster. It said: "Bihar has decided. They don't want Kumar who praises himself. You can decide for yourself. Take retirement and go to Tihar."
Bihar assembly elections
With a total of 243 seats in Bihar assembly, the state goes to polls in the upcoming year. While the ruling alliance of JD(U) and BJP are reportedly having internal tussles, the Opposition alliance - the Mahagathbandhan appears to be directionless after the massive poll drubbing in the general elections 2019. Lalu Yadav's party failed to open its account in the general elections and Nitish Kumar is facing anti-incumbency. With JD(U) VP's strategy team working with Mamata Banerjee in West Bengal, Nitish Kumar speaking against the BJP on various issues and the repeated invitations by the RJD to Kumar for rejoining the Mahagathbandhan, the poll-season in Bihar piques interest.
