Odisha Government to strengthen 'golden hour' management with SOP
Odisha Chief Secretary on Saturday has issued directions to the officials to strengthen "golden hour" management with SOPs for first 48 hours of free treatment
Odisha Chief Secretary Asit Tripathy on Saturday has issued directions to the officials to strengthen the management of "golden hour" with Standard Operating procedure (SOP) for first 48 hours of free treatment by hospitals. This decision was made in order to improve the treatment and care of the accident victims. Tripathy has directed to bring all the private and government ambulances under one common centre to provide early and best quality life-saving services to the accident victims. An SOP will soon be issued by the Health and Family Welfare department, stated reports. According to an Odisha Government release, the directions were given while reviewing the system at a high-level meeting held in Loka Seva Bhavan.
About the ambulances
According to reports, Odisha Chief secretary said that each ambulance will be embedded with GPS trackers to mark the exact location to make the necessary facilitation easy. He further stated that each ambulance will only be registered when "it satisfies the required standards". According to news reports, the ambulances have been named as '109 Ambulances' that is based on the emergency helpline number 108. Further, a news publication stated that currently, a total of 512 '108 Ambulances' and 19 fire station ambulances are providing emergency services to the accident victims.
NHAI provides ambulances
According to reports, the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has arranged for one ambulance at a stretch of approximately 50 kilometres on the national highway. Currently, over 1,500 of private-sector ambulances are in operation, stated a news report. Further, the health and family welfare department will be preparing the ‘technical standards’ for the registration process in accordance with the National Ambulance Code.
