Odisha Govt conducts surprise check at district headquarters hospitals
Odisha Government conducted a random surprise check at district headquarters hospital in Puri, Dhenkanal, and Jeypore on Sunday under the 'Mo Sarkar' initiative
The Odisha government conducted a random surprise check at district headquarters hospital in Puri, Dhenkanal and Jajpur on Sunday under the newly launched 'Mo Sarkar' initiative. According to an official release, three teams comprising of officials of the Chief Minister's Office (CMO) and health department visited the hospitals. The release further stated that patients' feedback was taken during the checks and a discussion was held with the doctors to improve the health system.
According to reports, Health secretary Office on Special Duty (OSD) to CM D Kutey and Additional secretary to CM Rita Rani Mohapatra visited Dhenkanal district headquarters hospital (DHH) while Additional secretary to CM, Rupa Rosan Sahu, Joint Secretary Health Yamini Sarangi and Deputy Secretary to CM Manoj Swain visited Puri hospital. Further, OSD to CM Dilip Mohanty, Joint Secretary Health Poonam Guha Kumar and Joint Secretary to CM Aditya Mohapatra paid a visit to Jajpur DHH.
Reports from surprise check
The government has taken immediate actions after the surprise check at the hospitals. According to reports, the government suspended Sundergarh's Chief District Medical Officer (CDMO) in-charge Pankaj Patel for alleged negligence of duty. Further, they also issued a show-cause notice to district collector Nikhil Pawan Kalyan for alleged lapses in implementing the programme in the Sundergarh District Headquarters Hospital. Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik tweeted about the actions taken by the government.
About 'Mo Sarkar' programme
The Naveen Patnaik-led government launched the 'Mo Sarkar' initiative in the state on October 2 in order to promote transparency in the governance. According to reports, the programme was launched at all the police stations along with 21 district headquarters hospitals and three government-run medical college hospitals at Cuttack, Berhampur, and Sambalpur. However, it is said to be effective at all the 30 district headquarters by October 30. Further, the programme is based on the philosophy that transparency, teamwork, technology and time leads to transformation. Reports stated that under this programme, the Chief Minister and other dignitaries will seek feedback from common citizens on the kind of response and service they received when they visited the government facilities.
