Odisha: More than 70 shops gutted due to a fire in Golbazar market

On Monday morning, more than 70 shops were gutted due to a massive fire that broke out in the Golbazar vegetable market in Sambalpur, Odisha.

On Monday morning, more than 70 shops were gutted due to a massive fire that broke out in the Golbazar vegetable market in Sambalpur, Odisha. Reportedly, the fire was caused by a lamp that fell over, after a puja was conducted on the market premises at about 2.30 am. Thereafter, the fire brigade immediately rushed to the spot and managed to put out the fire after two hours. Fortunately, no casualties were reported. Jitendra Das, the assistant fire officer stated that the extent of the damage could only be determined after a thorough investigation.

Das said, "The matter is under investigation, and only after it is completed, we will know the extent of the damage caused by the fire.”

Fire incidents

There have been multiple such incidents on Monday. Earlier, a fire broke out in a cloth shop in the Panchor area of Rajgarh, Madhya Pradesh. The entire shop was destroyed in the fire. Many fire tenders were required to douse the fire. A person was grievously injured and shifted to Indore for further treatment.

At approximately 1 am, a plastic product warehouse in Sion, Mumbai was affected by the outbreak of fire. 4 fire engines were immediately rushed to the spot after receiving the information. After an hour-long effort, the fire was finally extinguished. As no person was present in the warehouse, there were no reports of any casualties or injuries.
