PM Modi set the terms on Kashmir during his bilateral meet with US President Donald Trump on the sidelines of G7 Summit, snubbing Imran Khan on the international forum. 

With Kashmir being at the crux of the bilateral meet, PM Modi in many ways checkmated the Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan during the period of his attendance at the G7 Summit. 

France invites India for G7 Summit

PM Modi received a personal invitation to be a part of the G7 Summit hosted by France by the head of the country, French President Emmanuel Macron, despite not being a member of the international grouping. The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) had said that the invitation was a "reflection of the personal chemistry" between the two leaders and also "recognition of India as a major economic power".

Along with India, heads of state from the length and breadth of the globe including Australian, Egypt, Africa, Senegal, Rwanda, Spain, and South Africa are among the others whose world leaders were invited for the Summit in Biarritz. Often being looked as the grouping of 'rich countries,' the G7 Summit includes the seven countries that are considered the most developed & industrialised economies of the world, for them to discuss economic policies and other issues. 

Donald Trump backs out from Kashmir mediation

In a major victory for India, US President Donald Trump on Monday backed off on the Kashmir issue saying that 'The Prime Minister (Modi) has it under control,' when he met with PM Modi at the G7 Summit at Biarritz, France. Prime Minister Narendra Modi met with US President Donald Trump on Monday and held a bilateral meeting on the sidelines of the G7 Summit. Interacting with the media after the meeting, Trump conceded that the two nations can solve the issue bilaterally. He also hoped that Indo-Pak discussions on Kashmir will be fruitful.

"We spoke about Kashmir last night. The Prime Minister has said that he has it under control. He has said that he will speak with Pakistan Prime Minister. Something good will come out of it," said Trump.

India being the centrepiece of World economic order

While Pakistan was left out from a crucial G7 Summit that includes significant countries, PM Modi became the centrepiece in the world economic order, and was seen sharing the space with German Chancellor Angela Merkel, Italian Prime minister Giuseppe Conte and US Prime Minister Boris Johnson. 

Pak PM Imran Khan addresses nation on Kashmir

Even as Donald Trump said that Kashmir is bilateral issue, a Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan on Monday addressed his nation on Kashmir, in a desperate move to seek global attention. Speaking at his briefing, a delusional Imran Khan claimed that it was due to Pakistan that the international community is speaking about Kashmir. Imran Khan said: "Our victory is that we have internationalised this issue. UN meeting made it internationalised. They have got cautious. We told International media and International media has also picked it up." Furthermore, the Pakistan Prime Minister even admitted that Muslim nations are not with the country as yet.

International community calls Kashmir a bilateral issue, Imran Khan ignorant

• UN chief invoked Simla Pact, calls Kashmir a bilateral issue: Earlier, UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres has urged India and Pakistan to exercise "maximum restraint" and refrain from taking steps that could affect the status of Jammu and Kashmir. He had highlighted the Simla Agreement which rejects any third-party mediation on the issue. He also urged the two neighbouring countries to refrain from taking steps that could affect the status of Jammu and Kashmir while highlighting the Shimla Agreement which rejects any third-party mediation on the issue.
   
• India tells China it is an internal issue: Pakistan formally called for an emergency meeting of the UNSC to discuss India revoking the special status to Jammu and Kashmir, Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi said on Thursday. Last Friday, Qureshi had air-dashed to Beijing for urgent consultations with the Chinese leadership on the issue of raising the Kashmir issue at the UNSC. During his meeting with Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi on Monday in Beijing, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar conveyed that India's decision to revoke the special status of Jammu and Kashmir was an internal matter. He said the issue related to changes in a temporary provision of the Constitution of India and was the sole prerogative of the country. Jaishankar emphasised to Wang that these changes had no bearing on Pakistan as it was an internal matter. "It did not impact the LoC. Where India Pakistan relations are concerned, Chinese side should base its assessment on realities. India, as a responsible power, had shown restraint in face of provocative Pakistani rhetoric and actions. India has always stood for normalisation of the ties in an atmosphere free of terror," the minister said. 
   
• Russia slams Pakistan: Russia's deputy permanent representative, Dimitry Polyanskiy told reporters before entering the meeting room that Moscow's view is that it is a "bilateral issue" between India and Pakistan. He said the meeting was being held to understand what is happening. "That's what closed consultations are for. What does Russia think the next step should be- we favour bilateral track between india and Pakistan. You know our position. It hasn't changed. Today we have closed consultations and we will just exchange opinions and see what we can do and what we cannot do. It is a normal process."
