PM Modi continuing his tradition

The areas PM Modi visited are the same areas where Pakistan has been violating the ceasefire for the last few days. This will also send a strong message across the border. Since becoming the Prime Minister in 2014, PM Modi has been celebrating Diwali with the security forces every year.

PM Modi celebrated Diwali near India-China border in 2018

In 2018, he had celebrated the festival with the Jawans of Indian Army and Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) at Harsil village near the India-China border. PM Modi while visiting the Jawans and ITBP had bestowed heaps of praise on the Jawans saying their fearlessness reaches the entire Nation, just as the light of Diwali spreads to dispel negativity.

'Diwali is a special festival'

The Prime Minister during his visit had said, "You have sacrificed your lives for the well being of the Nation. In order to strengthen and equip the Nation, you are protecting the borders. This is the matter of the bright future of 125 crore citizens. There is barely any place in the country where the festival is not celebrated with pomp. It is a festival of significance. It is about taking from darkness to light. Where there is light, it dispels the impulse to act negatively. There is the blessing of being fearless in light. You take pains, show courage as you protect this land. Your fearlessness is reaching to the Nation.” PM Modi added, "Diwali is a special festival. Your teachers, parents have given you birth and guided you to take up the job to protect the country, hence I to bow to them as well. I prefer spending Diwali with our Jawans.”
