On the auspicious day of Diwali, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, keeping up with his tradition of celebrating Diwali with Jawans, visited the forward areas of Rajouri along the LoC to celebrate the festival of lights with security forces. PM Modi shared several pictures of the celebrations on Twitter, where he can be seen wearing an Army uniform and exchanging sweets with the soldiers. In one of his tweets, PM Modi praised the swift actions of the armed forces during natural disasters which save many lives and prevents the public property from being destroyed. Indian Army's relentless efforts in saving lives

Indian Army has always come to the rescue of the citizens during natural disasters. In August, emergency response teams of the Indian Army and Navy relentlessly spearheaded rescue and relief operations in Maharashtra and the southern States helping thousands stranded due to severe flood situation, following heavy rain that week.

While interacting with our soldiers, PM Modi thanked them on behalf of the people of India for their monumental service. "Their vigilance and valour keep our nation safe! I also spoke about the major steps our Government is taking for the welfare of soldiers," PM Modi wrote in another tweet.

'India Wali Diwali'

Prime Minister Narendra Modi also launched a campaign 'India Wali Diwali' and urged people to celebrate the festival by lighting the homes of those who need it. The PM tweeted a video featuring Bollywood Actor Rajkummar Rao. "Let us make this Diwali about lighting the lamp of happiness in the lives of others. Let us make this #IndiaWaliDiwali," he captioned the video.
