PM lauds Tamil Nadu CM for 'excellent arrangements' for Modi-Xi Meet
Prime Minister Narendra Modi praised the Tamil Nadu government for making 'excellent arrangements' for second informal India-China summit on Oct 11 and Oct 12
Prime Minister Narendra Modi has praised the Tamil Nadu Government and Chief Minister K Palaniswami for the "excellent arrangements" made during the second Sino-India informal summit which happened in Tamil Nadu on October 11 and October 12. According to an official release, the Chinese ambassador to India, Sun Weidong, has also thanked Tamil Nadu CM Palaniswami in his letter for making remarkable arrangements during Chinese President Xi Jinping's recent visit to India.
President Xi Jinping visited Mamallapuram for his second informal meeting with PM Modi. During the informal meeting, which was organised at the coastal town of Mamallapuram, both the leaders from India and China discussed a wide range of bilateral issues.
PM Modi praises 'excellent arrangements'
The Press Release also informed about Prime Minister Narendra Modi's letter to the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister praising the 'excellent arrangements' made for the informal summit.
"In the letter, the Prime Minister said that the reception accorded to the Chinese President and the hospitality were reflective of our culture and ethos," the press release said.
The release further quoted PM Modi's words, which described the summit to be "memorable" one for himself and Chinese President Jinping. Narendra Modi has also praised the efforts put in for the "excellent arrangements" done for the two leaders' summit, by the people of Tamil Nadu and cultural, social, and political organisations.
The Chinese envoy has also written to the Tamil Nadu CM, lauding the State Government. In his letter, the Ambassador 'wholeheartedly thanked' Palaniswami and his government hosting an 'excellent reception' for the Chinese President and the officials who accompanied him. He also praised the hospitality, besides the cultural programs organised throughout, the release added. The Chinese envoy in his letter also batted for more exchanges between the people of India and China.
Significance of 2nd informal summit
Chinese President Xi Jinping visited India for the second informal summit with Prime Minister Narendra Modi on October 11 and October 12. The previous Wuhan summit had happened against the backdrop of India and China standoff on the Doklam issue in 2017. The first summit had gone a long way to ease off the situation in the Doklam region. Ahead of the Mamallapuram meeting between both the leaders, China had also made statements towards making ties between both the nations even more harmonious.
