What happened to 2-year old Sujith Wilson?
On Friday evening, 2-year-old Sujith Wilson who was playing near his home at Nadukattupetti village in Trichy district fell into a 600 feet unused bore well. Initially, he was stuck at a depth of 26 feet, but later on, Saturday fell to a depth of 88 feet. Rescue operations commenced 30 minutes after the child fell into the borewell and is still underway.
Rescue operations underway
According to latest updates, rigging machines have been digging a parallel path to the borewell in which the child is stuck, to reach him. On Sunday, due to the hard, solid rock sediments, the digging process was slowed down reaching only 20 feet. The blades of the machine too were damaged while digging. Initially, when rescue ops had commenced, the child slipped deeper due to the vibration produced by earth-movers and the slippery walls of the empty bore well.
After trying other methods to access the child, the authorities have currently installed a 1,200 horsepower borewell drilling machine to break the rocks into pieces, creating a path measuring 1 meter in diameter. Fire and rescue teams aim to reach the bottom of 98 feet and will then dig a horizontal path to reach the actual bore well where the toddler is stuck. Commissioner for revenue and administration Radhakrishnan - the top official in charge of the whole mission has said, "It will take around 12 hours to reach the destined level in the current rate and its subject to change according to the rock structures."

Many celebrities, politicians have voiced their concern for the child's safety as India prays for his safe rescue.
