Prime Minister (PM) Narendra Modi on Tuesday met with the JP Morgan International Council in New Delhi. This was the first time after 2007 that the International Council met in India. At the high profile meeting which included former US Secretaries of State and former British and Australian Prime Ministers, PM Modi discussed his vision of making India a USD 5 trillion economy by 2024.
"Development of physical infrastructure, a priority," says PM Modi
The JP International Council comprises global statesman like former British Prime Minister Tony Blair, former Australian PM John Howard, former US Secretaries of State Henry Kissinger and Condoleezza Rice, former Secretary of Defence Robert Gates. The council also included global business leaders like Jamie Dimon (JP Morgan Chase), Ratan Tata (Tata Group) and leading representatives from global companies like Nestle, Alibaba, Alfa, Iberdola, and Kraft Heinz. PM Modi welcomed the council on Tuesday and spoke about the development of world-class amenities in India.
The Prime Minister expressed that the Government of India is focussing on the development of physical infrastructure, improvement in affordable health-care and providing quality education. He also stated that these, along with some other policies are priorities for the Government. PM Modi also stressed that people’s participation remains a guiding tenet of policymaking for the Government. While sharing the country's foreign policy front, he said that India continues to work together with its strategic partners and close neighbours to build a fair and equitable multipolar world order. PM Modi also tweeted about his meeting with Dr Henry Kissinger former British PM Tony Blair and said that the former British PM had made a long-lasting contribution to his nation and has insightful views on a wide range of global issues.
