In a big development and a moment of pride for the nation, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has emerged as the World's most powerful person of 2019 in the British Herald poll. PM Narendra Modi will feature on the cover page of British Herald Magazine in July. It will be released on 15th July 2019.
The poll conducted by British Herald was closed on Saturday midnight and it selected Prime Minister Modi as the world's most powerful person in 2019.
The magazine said the poll that was conducted had many global leaders in the fray including the United States of America President Donald Trump, Chinese premier Xi Jinping, and Russian PM Vladimir Putin. The magazine further stated that PM Modi received 30.9 percent of votes while his closest contender was Russia's Vladimir Putin with 29.9 percent votes.
As per the magazine, more than 25 world leaders were nominated in the reader's poll and four candidates were finally selected for the final round. These leaders were Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Vladimir Putin, Donald Trump, and Xi Jinping. While Trump won 21.9% of the reader's vote, Chinese premier won 18.1% votes. The result of the polls was a clear message of PM Modi's massive global appeal and the power and position India has exerted in the international platform under PM Modi.
Narendra Modi won a thumping victory in the Lok Sabha polls and became the Prime Minister consecutively for the second time. His global image has by far been impressive with big world leaders calling him a close friend.
Unlike the regular voting system, the British Herald readers had to vote through a mandatory one-time password (OTP) process to validate their vote. PM British Herald had earlier featured Jacinda Ardern in May-June issue and Vladimir Putin in March - April issue.
