Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday made his first address to the nation following the momentous move by his government earlier in the week to scrap Section 370 pertaining to Jammu and Kashmir thereby integrating the state with India like never before, and also its bifurcation into two Union Territories - J&K and Ladakh.

While addressing the nation on Thursday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi spoke at length about the new era of development in Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh. "The entire country is with the people of these regions as they embark on the path to progress. Everything will be done to fulfil people’s aspirations," he said.

During the address, he wished the country a very happy Eid (to be celebrated on August 12) and said: "I assure the people of J&K that things will return to normalcy. I congratulate the people on the occasion of Eid. The government is trying to ensure that the people of J&K face no difficulties in celebrating Eid. The people who want to go back to Kashmir to celebrate Eid, government will help everyone."

"I urge the people of J&K and Ladakh to show their capability to the world. Let's build a new J&K along with new India.," says PM Modi at the end of his address.
