Prince Charles turns 71; celebrates birthday in Mumbai with school kids

Great Britain's Prince Charles ringed in his 71st birthday with school children at Mumbai's iconic Taj Mahal hotel on Thursday. The Prince of Wales is on a three-day visit to India. Britain's Prince Charles had a simple and brief birthday celebration with more than 20 school children, who wished the Prince by singing him a birthday song.

During his visit, he also attended a round table conference with Indian businessmen and discussed sustainable market initiatives. British High Commissioner to India Dominic Asquith welcomed the Prince to the conference.  The current visit marks the 10th official visit of the Prince to India.

Prince Charles meets President Ram Nath Kovind

Earlier, Prince Charles had called on Indian President Ram Nath Kovind. He participated in a bilateral meeting with President Kovind at the Rashtrapati Bhavan in New Delhi on Wednesday.

Other engagements

According to reports, Prince Charles' visit to India will focus on the India-UK ties and challenges such as sustainability and climate change. He will also present a Commonwealth 'Points of Light' award to Srishti Bakshi for her exemplary contribution to the field of social development that involves upliftment of disabled children, family counseling and therapy sessions. Along with it, he will also attend a discussion with influential Indian business leaders to seek their advice and input on sustainable markets. The heir to the British throne also visited Gurudwara Bangla Sahib and the  India Meteorological Department (IMD) at Mausam Bhawan. According to reports, Charles interacted with the IMD officials during his stay. He was seen leaving the weather department in a battery-operated rickshaw
