The former Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh, Shivraj Singh Chauhan has decided to donate his one month’s salary to the flood-hit victims in Mandsaur, Madhya Pradesh. He also has urged other people to come out and help the victims by providing relief materials. Apart from this, in a public statement, he blamed the Kamal Nath-led Congress government for not doing enough in the state for the farmers. He spoke about the Soyabean crops that were destroyed by the floods in Madhya Pradesh and urged the state government to compensate for the loss of farmers.  

Shivraj Singh Chouhan to donate his one-month salary 

The former CM of MP Shivraj Singh Chouhan promised to donate his salary for the cause of rehabilitation and relief of the flood-hit farmers. He said, "In Mandsaur, the flood has created havoc. Lives of people have been disrupted. Some of them are also trapped. I will donate my one-month salary to the flood-hit victims. I also urge the people to come forward and help their brothers and sisters in Madhya Pradesh by giving them food, clothes or money."

Shivraj Singh Chouhan blamed the State government for their negligence  

He said, "The farmers of the state have been devasted and ruined due to rains. Their crops such as Soyabean, Urad have been destroyed. The government did not fulfil its promise of loan waiving. Farmers also did not get seeds and soil at a 0% interest rate. This government is not understanding the gravity of the situation. Farmers' crops have been collapsed and surveys have not yet started in several places. The administration needs to step up its relief work with full capacity and full force. Madhya Pradesh is my home and its citizens are my family members. It is my duty to fight for their rights”

Floods in Madhya Pradesh 

Several low-lying areas have been submerged in Mandsaur due to heavy rainfall in the area. The authorities have taken steps to evacuate people from the area. The district has been witnessing incessant rains for the past three days. The rainwater also entered the Indira Gandhi District Hospital. According to the meteorological department predictions, there is a "very low" chance of halt in rainfall during the next few days. The district has been put in a state of 'high alert' due to the situation. There is no report of loss of life from anywhere in the district. Mandsaur was also affected by heavy rainfall in the last month, the affected victims were rescued by a JCB on 9 August. The footages of the operation showed people climbing on to the extended front-end of the JCB from across the banks of the flooded region to safety.
