Sushma Swaraj Passes Away: Arun Jaitley says former MEA 'leaves behind a void which is difficult to fill'

Former Union Minister Arun Jaitley mourned the loss of one of the 'most outstanding politicians in the present era,' on the demise of Sushma Swaraj on Tuesday night at the age of 67.

Former Union Minister Arun Jaitley mourned the loss of one of the 'most outstanding politicians in the present era,' on the demise of Sushma Swaraj on Tuesday night at the age of 67. 

In a tweet, the former Finance Minister said that he was 'saddened, pained and broken' on the passing of Swaraj and added that 'she leaves behind a void which is difficult to fill'

He said: 

The veteran politician's stint in politics began after her practice as a Supreme Court advocate. In the second term of PM Modi, she decided to quit her political career citing health reasons.

PM Narendra Modi whom late former External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj had tweeted thanking for the achieving Kashmir Integration just hours before her passing, expressed his sadness over her demise. In a series of tweets, he spoke of her highly marking the event of her death as 'an end of a glorious chapter in politics'.

Calling her a prolific orator and outstanding Parliamentarian, he said the nation will grieve her death as she was an inspiration to all. He said that she was 'excellent administrator', and 'set high standards in every Ministry she handled'.

 He also acknowledged her 'tireless work' as the External Affairs Minister in his first term as PM. 

The former External Affair Minister will always be remembered for her role in the governance of the country. She kick-started her political innings in 1977 as a member of the Janata Party and at the first go was elected as the MLA Haryana. And was the youngest cabinet minister in Haryana government at the age
of 25.
