His response, ‘"So, let me start by coming across to you and shaking hands. All three of you," to the Pakistan reporters got a fan following of his own when he was asked a query about the ‘dialogue’ on Kashmir.
They exulted over Syed Akbaruddin beating Pakistan at an international platform and wrote, “We are proud of you sir.”
Syed Akbaruddin bashed Pakistan without even naming it at the UNSC, following the closed-door meeting, by reiterating that Article 370 is an internal matter of India.
He said, “At the UN Security Council's closed consultations we noted that the two states who made national statements tried to pass it off as the will of the international community. Our national stance was and remains that matters related to article 370 in the Indian Constitution is entirely an internal matter. These have no external ramifications," he said.

"The recent decisions taken by the Government of India are intended that good governance is promoted, social development is enhanced for our people in Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh. This morning, the Chief Secretary of Jammu and Kashmir announced the whole set of measures that the government is undertaking to move towards normalcy," he added.
"We are gratified that the Security Council in its close consultations appreciated these efforts, acknowledged them and assured that this was the direction for the international community to move. We are committed to gradually remove all restrictions and you are aware of the time table for that," he said.
"Since the changes internal to India have not made any difference to our external orientation, India remains committed that the situation there remains calm and peaceful. We are committed to all the agreements we have signed on this issue," he said.
"We note that there were some who tried to take an alarmist position on the issue, which is far from the ground reality. There is one state which is using the terminology of 'Jihad' and promoting violence, especially by their leaders. Violence is no solution to the problem we face. We are committed that all issues with India and Pakistan and India and any other country will be solved bilaterally, peacefully and in a manner that behooves normal relations between countries. We stand ready to resolve all issues in an atmosphere free of terror and violence," he added.
