Syed Akbaruddin's proud alma-mater gives him a shoutout, gets reply
India's permanent representative to the UN, Syed Akbaruddin, was recently recognised by his alma-mater HPS Begumpet. He took to Twitter and thanked the school.
India's permanent representative at the United Nations, Syed Akbaruddin addressed the media, on August 16, following the UNSC (United Nations Security Council) meeting in New York and hammered Pakistan left, right and centre over Kashmir issue. In the light of his feat, his alma-mater Hyderabad Public School, Begumpet (HPS Begumpet) on Wednesday took to Twitter and proudly praised their alumnus for his UN intervention. Taking to Twitter, HPS Begumpet wrote that it is "proud to recognize the man of the moment, Syed Akbaruddin".
Responding to the tweet put out by HPS Begumpet, Syed Akbaruddin took to Twitter and thanked his school for the recognition. The permanent representative of India to the UN said "my alma mater, ever grateful to you", in his tweet acknowledging HPS Begumpet.

Syed Akbaruddin shines at UN
The permanent representative of India to the UN, Syed Akbaruddin made headlines with his witty responses to the questions of the journalists at the press conference following the UNSC meeting in New York. Answering the questions of the reporters, Syed Akbaruddin had reiterated that Article 370 is an internal matter of India. Turning the tables on Pakistan, Syed Akbaruddin extended the hand of friendship when being questioned by a Pakistani journalist on the same on Friday. He went to the Pak reporters and shook their hands as a heartwarming gesture, when he was asked "when will India begin a dialogue with Pakistan?".
Who is Syed Akbaruddin
India's permanent envoy to the United Nations Syed Akbaruddin is the man who single-handedly shut down Pakistan at the UN. A 1986 batch Indian Foreign Services officer, he has also served as a Counsellor at the Indian High Commission in Islamabad. One of his first major responsibilities was when he was posted at the Indian Mission to the United Nations as First Secretary during 1995-98, and one of his tasks was with the UN Security Council Reform and Peace-Keeping. He has also been the First Secretary in Riyadh and Second Secretary/Third Secretary in Cairo, Egypt. Syed Akbaruddin was appointed as India’s permanent representative to the United Nations by the Ministry of External Affairs in November 2015.
