The Telugu Desam Party held a meeting on Tuesday, in regards of the 'Sand Deeksha' protest which the party is set to stage on November 14 against YSRCP
The Telugu Desam Party held a meeting on Tuesday, November 12, in regards to the 'Sand Deeksha' protest which the party is set to stage on November 14. The TDP is protesting against the scarcity of sand in Andhra Pradesh which the party has alleged has been created by the YSRCP. TDP has also alleged that the scarcity has encouraged black marketeers, which in turn has led to the loss of livelihood of hundreds of workers and labourers.
'We seek support of all parties for this Deeksha'
TDP MP Kesineni Srinivas, while speaking to the media said CM Jagan Mohan Reddy had promised before elections that he would provide sand to every citizen for free but this was already provided by former CM Chandrababu Naidu and people just had to pay for the transportation charges. "Since the time, Jagan Mohan reddy has come to power, he has abandoned the whole policy," said Srinivas. He added that Reddy has promised to bring a new sand policy for which he had stopped the supply of sand for three months which has led to its scarcity in the state. He also accused the Andhra Pradesh CM of creating scarcity and encouraging the black market in the state.
"The sand is now completely under the control of black marketers who are being controlled by ministers of YSRCP party. The whole sand mafia is being controlled by the YSRCP. Labourers and their families have lost their livelihood. We are going to release a charge sheet on the sand mafia which will explain how sand is being exported to other states while we are being deprived of it. We seek support of all political parties for this," Srinivas added.
YSRCP Minister accused of reaping welfare scheme benefits
TDP had earlier accused Chief Minister Jagan Mohan Reddy-led Andhra Pradesh government of looting public money. TDP leader K Pattabhi Ram claimed, ministers and workers of the ruling YSRCP had benefited in the process. He alleged that the Education minister Audimulapu Suresh was a beneficiary of the ‘Rythu Bharosa’ welfare scheme. Contending that he did not qualify for the scheme, Ram expressed his bewilderment on the same.
