A major terror attack was foiled by the security forces after a truck ferrying three terrorists was intercepted in the Jhajjar Kotli area on Jammu Srinagar National Highway.

A truck on way from Jammu to Srinagar stopped at Jhajjar Kotli area at a local Dhaba to buy some food items.
"The drivers came to the Dhaba and ordered food for five people whereas. In the meantime, a police and CRPF team also reached the spot and questioned the driver", Amit an eyewitness working in the Dhaba told Republic TV.
He said as he was busy serving the food items, some people fired from the truck and ran towards the jungle. "Meanwhile additional forces reached here and launched the operation," Amit said.
Speaking to Republic TV, SSP Udhampur Rayees Mohammad Bhat said, "We got the inputs and addition forces were rushed to the spot and right now massive search operation is on in the area to nab the terrorists believed to be two to three in numbers".
The truck carrying the terrorists was also seized by the police and the driver and the conductor of the truck have been taken into custody.
"One AK rifle and three magazines recovered from the intercepted truck. Driver, conductor taken into custody. Two to three suspected militants who ran away from the truck are being chased, police army and CRPF activated," a police spokesman said.
He said that cordon and search operation is on ahead of the Suketar and Katra area on the national highway.
"We have recovered some arms and ammunition from the truck, a fully loaded magazine of AK 47 was also recovered during further searches," a senior CRPF officer said.
Meanwhile, as a high alert has been sounded in the entire Jammu region and people have been asked to remain alert, traffic on the Jammu Srinagar National Highway has also been stopped.
The authorities have also asked all the educational institutions in the area to remain alert.
"All schools on alert adjoining to Jhajjar Kotli Tikri border. Head of institutions and teachers directed to keep vigil and not allow any student to go outside the school during the school time," Deputy Commissioner Udhampur Ravinder Kumar said.
Sources say that the terrorists were on their way from Jammu to Srinagar and they are now questioning the apprehended truck driver to find out from where these terrorists entered into India.
"Investigations are on and we can tell you more once the investigation is done," a senior police official said.
Local MLA Devender Singh Rana who also reached the spot said that he stands with the forces at this moment and he has come to the spot to show his solidarity with the forces.
"Right now nothing much can be said as the operation is still on, but we have come here to stand shoulder to shoulder with our security forces," Rana said.
At the time of filing this report the cordon and search operation was on and security forces were on job to either nab or neutralize the terrorists.
