Terrorists Won't Succeed In Scaring Policeman: Director General of Jammu and Kashmir Police Dilbag Singh

Sending a clear message to the terrorists who think they would succeed in scaring the police personnel by threatening them to resign, the new Director General of Jammu and Kashmir Police Dilbag Singh on Sunday said that the policeman who dons the uniform does it out of sheer love for the nation and that the terrorist won't succeed in their nefarious designs.

“There is nothing to worry about the threats from terrorists, this is not for the first time they are trying to scare the men in uniform. Had we been scared the entire police force had resigned long back? The people who don the uniform do it out of love for the nation and would continue to do so”, Singh said.

Terrorists have been issuing threats to the police on various social media platforms asking them to resign or face consequences. Last month terrorists mostly in South Kashmir kidnapped family members of 11 policemen after police had called the father of a dreaded terrorist for questioning. But the new DGP says that such type of tactics won’t succeed in Kashmir, as these things would expose the nefarious designs of the terrorists in front of the local population.

Singh who was recently elevated to the position of Director General of State Police after the former DG SP Vaid was shifted as commissioner in the state transport department today held his first media interaction in Jammu. Singh a 1987 batch Indian Police Service officer has served at various key positions in the state when Pakistan sponsored militancy was at its peak.

''When asked whether the terrorists were trying to make Jammu a new terror base, Singh said that during his tenure as Inspector General of Police in Jammu, the entire region was made militancy free, “We are working to streamline things as the situation is not that alarming”, he said.

He assured that the state police was fully prepared to handle all challenges that would come up during the upcoming polls for the local urban bodies and the Panchayats.

“We are to provide security to all and we have done so successfully in the past as well. We will try to provide a safe environment so that people can cast their vote without any fear or intimidation”, he said.

Singh said that media plays a vital role in the situation and media should focus on presenting facts rather than manufacturing ones.

“We respect those journalists who report facts, we are open to criticism, but those who manufacture stories are under our surveillance and wont be spared”, Singh Said.

When asked to comment about the Jhajjar Kotli terror attack, Singh said that the National Investigation Agency (NIA) was investigating the case and they would soon crack it.
