'Humara CP kaisa ho, Kiran Bedi jaisa ho'
Amid the tussle between the lawyers and police in Delhi over the clashes outside Tis Hazari Court on November 2, hundreds of police personnel staged an unprecedented protest outside the police headquarters in Delhi on Tuesday. When Delhi Police Commissioner Amulya Patnaik appealed to them to maintain peace, he was booed by his own force with "Humara CP (Commissioner of Police) kaisa ho, Kiran Bedi jaisa ho" slogans.
Addressing the protesting police personnel, Patnaik said that the police are the law-keepers and have to make sure that the faith reposed on them by the government is not broken. Urging the protesters to return to their duties, he said, "The last few days have been a turmoil for Delhi Police. We are adept at handling difficult situations. We have handled the situation in a good manner up till now. We will handle it in a proper manner. we must keep in mind that we are the keepers of law and we should follow it. this is our test. Govt has a lot of expectations from us. We are the law keepers. And this is also a moment of wait for us. It's a wait because HC has set up an inquiry commission. We should keep our faith that we will get justice. Whatever incident has happened there will be legal action. And we have fulfilled our duty as per our tradition. I urge you to go back to your duty points. Go back to your duty points and follow discipline."
