Uttarakhand cabinet approves formation of integrated safety scheme
The Uttarakhand cabinet chaired by CM Trivendra Rawat approved the formation of an integrated safety scheme to tackle the natural disasters in the sate.
Uttarakhand Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat on Wednesday chaired a meeting with his cabinet members. During the meeting, CM Rawat gave his nod for the formation of an integrated safety scheme under the high-intensity earthquake minimization program in order to tackle the natural calamities in the state.
The Uttarakhand Chief Minister also took to his official Twitter handle and informed about the cabinet meeting.
The integrated safety scheme will be formed with a view of earthquakes. A budget of Rs 500 crore will be approved for the scheme, for five years in order to deal with natural calamities approaching the sate in the future.
The cabinet also sanctioned a budget of Rs 3,73,00,000 for surveying buildings that are vulnerable to natural disasters. The Cabinet also decided to induct around 25 disaster mitigation employees into the District Disaster Management Control (DDMC).
Discussions held on 30 issues
During the cabinet meeting, discussions were held on 30 issues. Approvals were also given for Uttarakhand University Amendment Service Rules, Nursery Act and it also directed setting up of a committee under the chairmanship of Forest Minister Harak Singh Rawat to review the Indian Forest Amendment (1927). The cabinet also decided to formulate a hot mix plant policy for stone crushers, under which, stone crushers will be given a license for a tenure of 10 years instead of the current five-year term it will also require them to set up plants at least 3 km away from rivers. Grants for Community radio stations were also increased from Rs 5 lakh to Rs 10 lakh and also mandated entrepreneurs to register their start-ups under 'start-up policy'.
A committee was also put in place to deal with the issues in the construction of houses under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana.
