VHP'S Alok Kumar criticizes Digvijaya Singh for his BJP-ISI remarks
VHP's Alok Kumar said that INC member Digvijay Singh's comments of BJP members spying on behalf of ISI were baseless and that nobody takes him seriously.
Vishva Hindu Parishad (VHP) Working President Alok Kumar exclaimed that the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) should investigate the remarks made by senior Indian National Congress (INC) member Digvijaya Singh on October 6. Referring to the statements made by the Congress leader, Alok Kumar was quoted saying:
"If he has some information, the CBI should question him in the matter and when it is found that he has made some false statements, he should be punished. Such baseless, scandalous allegations spoil the atmosphere. He had earlier leveled allegation of saffron terror. He is doing the same thing again. I condemn such statements."
'He's not taken seriously anymore'
Singh, while recently addressing a press conference asserted that certain members of the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Bajrang Dal have been caught spying for the Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI), an intelligence agency of the Government of Pakistan.
In the press conference, he said, "I have said this before and it pricked those people who deserve this. Some people who hold official posts in Bajrang Dal and BJP have been caught spying for ISI. They are out on bail during the BJP regime. Their bail should be cancelled and a trial for 'national betrayal' should be done on such people. BJP gives us a nationalism message to fight against Pakistan. What kind of nationalism is this where there own people are taking money from ISI and spying on India? They must explain this".
Repeating earlier remarks
This is the second time the Congress leader has made such remarks on BJP members in the past few weeks. Earlier, in his remarks he derided, that there were members of the BJP who have been caught spying and they should not be allowed to hold public offices. He had said, "Bajrang Dal and BJP are taking money from ISI, attention should be paid to this". He later retracted some of his remarks after facing criticism but also confirmed that he was standing by most of what he had said. He opined:
"I referred to some office bearers of BJP’s IT Cell and Bajrang Dal, who have been caught by the Madhya Pradesh Police in the past for taking money from ISI. I still stick to my statement". A police complaint was filed against him in Muzaffarpur, Bihar.
On August 22, three men were arrested in Satna, on charges of funding terrorism by acting as middlemen for ISI agents to pay informers who provided sensitive information. They reportedly belonged to the BJP and the Bajrang Dal.
