WATCH: BJP workers mock-cough as Arvind Kejriwal begins speech, only stop at Nitin Gadkari's insistence

From getting slapped to spilling ink and chilli powder flinging, Arvind Kejriwal has been a recipient of it all. To add on to the list, on Thursday at a public rally, the  BJP workers mocked the chief minister by coughing repeatedly.

Kejriwal was stuck in an awkward situation as the 'coughing' began when he tried to start his speech. Following the continual imitation and mockery, Union Minister Nitin Gadkari had to step in to ask the workers to maintain silence. Gadkari hushed the crowd saying, "Please keep quiet. This is an official event."

The event was held by the Delhi Jal Board and National Mission for Clean Ganga to launch 'clean the Yamuna' campaign.  Along with two Union Ministers, Nitin Gadkari and Harsh Vardhan, and the Chief Minister of Delhi, the Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia, Minister of State for Water and Resources Satyapal Singh and BJP leaders from Delhi were in presence at the event.

Kejriwal in the past has been at the receiving end of numerous such incidences, as on November 20, he was attacked by a man with chilli powder, responding to which he said, "For the last two years, there have been four attacks, thus these attacks are planned and done. They want to kill me."

He further added that the ploy is designed following the hard work that only his party, the Aam Aadmi Party has done for Delhi, "The work that our party has done in Delhi, has not been done in years thus they want to attack us. This is a conspiracy. I will work for my country till my last breath."

Back in 2016 October, two activists spilt ink on the Chief Minister for his comments on surgical strikes by the army on Pakistan.  In April 2016, a shoe was thrown on Kejriwal while he was addressing a press conference. In March 2016, his car was pelted with stones, breaking his windshield. In January 2016 Kejriwal was a recipient of ink attack, smeared by a woman in a public gathering. And back in April 2014, he was slapped by an autorickshaw driver at a roadshow, where the AAP leader sustained a minor eye injury.
