The state of Jammu and Kashmir is gearing up to celebrate Independence Day on August 15 for the first time ever after the state was integrated with India completely following the abrogation of Article 370 on August 5. An Independence day parade will be taken out in the state by the Indian Armed Forces, Border Security Force, Reserve Police Forces, and the J&K Police on August 15 and the rehearsals for the event are already underway in Srinagar.
J&K gears up for Independence Day celebrations
Visuals of the rehearsals that were accessed showed the Jawans proudly marching on the Sher-e-Kashmir cricket stadium in Srinagar, completely dressed in their uniforms, rehearsing for the celebrations on August 15. The various groups include troops from the Indian Army, the BSF, CPRF, and the local police force. An all-women officers segment is also seen rehearsing for the march alongside various other groups from all over the country, who are in Srinagar, to participate in the celebrations.
The national flag was hoisted at the grounds by the dignitaries followed by which the national anthem was sung.
A group of Army Jawans, with soldiers from diverse origins, are seen coming together to perform the traditional Punjabi dance-form 'bhangra'. Further, a troupe of students from Jammu is also present in the state's capital to perform a dance number on Independence day.
Eid celebrated peacefully across the state
Despite the fear-mongering of the Congress party and international news media over unrest in Jammu and Kashmir following the abrogation of Article 370, as well as a nefarious fake news campaign perpetrated from across the border, people from the Valley came out in large numbers to celebrate Eid al-Adha on Monday.
Ahead of Eid al-Adha, banks, ATMs and quite a few markets were opened as restrictions were lifted to allow the people to celebrate.
