"Worst even Terror attack since 1989", says Sri Lankan PM Ranil Wickremesinghe expressing solidarity to PM Modi and families of martyrs over attack in Pulwama

Sri Lanka's Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe gave a statement condemning the terror attack on the CRPF in Pulwama in Jammu and Kashmir. "I strongly condemn the brutal terrorist attack in Kashmir's Pulwama district — the worst ever terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir since 1989. I express my condolences to PM Modi and the families of police officers who lost their lives," he said.

Sri Lanka's Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe gave a statement condemning the terror attack on the CRPF in Pulwama in Jammu and Kashmir.

"I strongly condemn the brutal terrorist attack in Kashmir's Pulwama district — the worst ever terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir since 1989. I express my condolences to PM Modi and the families of police officers who lost their lives," he said.

India witnessed one of the deadliest terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir on February 14, 2019 after the Pakistan-backed Jaish-e-Mohammed attacked a convoy of CRPF in Pulwama.

The bus which came under the main impact of the blast belonged to 76 battalions of the CRPF. There were 35 personnel aboard the vehicle that was attacked and as per CRPF sources, 100 kg of explosive was used in IED blast.

India has taken a strong stand against the attack. 

Prime Minister Narendra Modi strongly condemned the 'dastardly' terror attack in which CRPF convoy, which was moving from Jammu to Srinagar, was targeted by the terrorists. In probably the biggest terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir since the Uri Army camp strike of September 18, 2016, following which surgical strikes were conducted in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir, at least 30 soldiers were martyred on Thursday. 

'The sacrifices of our brave security personnel shall not go in vain', tweeted the Prime Minister adding that the entire 'nation stands shoulder to shoulder with the families of the brave martyrs', PM Modi wrote to Twitter.

The attack has elicited condemnation from countries across the globe. 

The United Nations chief spokesperson Stephane Dujarric de la Rivière expressed his solidarity with India and wished recovery for all the injured. 

"We strongly condemn today's attack in Jammu and Kashmir in Pulwama district and express our deepest condolences to the families of those who lost their lives and Indian government and people of India. We wish a speedy recovery to those injured and call for those behind the attack to be brought to justice," said the spokesperson of UN Secretary-General.
