In a major political development ahead of the Lok Sabha polls, actor-politician Kamal Haasan on Thursday said that his party -Makkal Needhi Maiam would contest all the 39 seats in Tamil Nadu on its own in the coming Lok Sabha polls.

Actor-turned Kamal Haasan met superstar and arch-rival Rajinikanth on Thursday in Chennai. While Rajinikanth is yet to launch his political party and is uncertain about contesting the Lok Sabha polls, Haasan cleared the air recently with the announcement that his party Makkal Needhi Maiam (MNM)  is ready to contest elections in Tamil Nadu the lone seat in neighbouring Puducherry Union Territory.

As per reports, South superstar Rajinikanth also extended an invitation to his daughter Soundarya Rajinikanth's wedding to Kamal Haasan. Soundarya Rajinikanth is all set to walk down the aisle in just a few days. The wedding of the south Indian superstar's daughter has become the talk of the town recently. Soundarya Rajinikanth is getting married to the businessman and actor Vishagan Vanangamudi. Meanwhile, the preparations of the grand wedding are in full swing which is scheduled to take place in Chennai.

In a major political development ahead of the Lok Sabha polls, actor-politician Kamal Haasan on Thursday said that his party -Makkal Needhi Maiam would contest all the 39 seats in Tamil Nadu on its own in the coming Lok Sabha polls.

"We are trying to serve good for the people with clean hands. We are trying to keep our hands clean by not allying with any of the Dravidian parties," the 64-year-old Haasan said. Asked whether his party would contest all the 39 Lok Sabha seats in Tamil Nadu and one in neighbouring Puducherry, he said, "yes, we have taken such a decision".

Haasan had earlier said that his party would contest the Lok Sabha polls in alliance with like-minded parties, however now he has declared that MNM will contest 2019 independently.
