A day after the video of AAP MLA Amanatullah Khan pushing Delhi BJP chief Manoj Tiwari in the presence of police, during the inauguration ceremony of the Signature Bridge, went viral, Amanatullah Khan has denied pushing the BJP leader, asserting that he was trying to stop him from climbing to the stage and attacking Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and deputy CM Manish Sisodia.
Speaking to news agency ANI, Amanatullah Khan revealed that while Manoj Tiwari was not invited to the inauguration, he came with his supporters and created a ruckus at the event. Later, the AAP leader reasoned his push by stating that he was trying to stop Manoj Tiwari from climbing the stage, after police did not stop him:
Delhi BJP chief Manoj Tiwari on Monday, spoke to Republic TV, where he revealed that Amanatullah Khan threatened him for life before the pushing incident took place.
“We had the inauguration of the Signature Bridge in the city. I am an MLA of the constituency(North-East Delhi). I was the one who restarted the stopped work of the bridge, got 33 crores sanctioned during the President's rule and I was not even invited. I still went there to support the inauguration even if I was not invited. Deputy CM Manish Sisodia invited us on Twitter. But when I went there I was pushed. While one of the many attacks is clearly visible to you now, there were many more which did not come into the limelight. I was threatened for life before being pushed by Amanatullah Khan. He said, 'I will shoot you here only',” Manoj Tiwari told Republic TV.
Later, the Delhi BJP chief stated that while he went to the event to support the cause for good, he was attacked by AAP backers in the presence of CM Arvind Kejriwal and Deputy CM Manish Sisodia, calling it a 'controversy' by the AAP leaders.
“Even then I was not provoked and was standing silently knowing that today is an auspicious day. Even when those 'fake' people were inaugurating the bridge, I wanted the day to go well. But when I was standing silently, he came from after talking to someone and directly pushed me. A goon who is out on bail is hitting a parliamentarian. I would have died in the crowd after falling. Every individual has seen the conspiracy. I have a filed complaint and it will soon be modified into an FIR. His bail should be terminated and he should be put behind the bars. All of this has happened under the nose of Arvind Kejriwal and his cadre. If you see the video, then you will realize that it was an attempt to kill me,” he added.
On Sunday, BJP supporters and AAP-cadre got involved in a scuffle during the inauguration ceremony of the Signature Bridge in New Delhi. In the video, BJP and AAP workers are seen scuffling amid the police who were trying to control the situation, and Manoj Tiwari is trying to make his way out of the fracas:
