Mamata Banerjee jogs for 10 kilometers from Kuresong to Mahanadi

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on October 25, jogged for 10 kilometers in the Kuresong city of the Darjeeling district of West Bengal. The West Bengal CM was jogging to create awareness about conserving the environment on the occasion of the International Day of Climate Action.

Mamata Banerjee jogs for 10 km in Darjeeling Hills

Known to be a fitness conscious person, Mamata Banerjee, along with a group of people, jogged from Kurseong to Mahanadi area. While jogging on the stretch between Kuresong to Mahanadi, Mamata Banerjee also stopped to interact with the local population about conserving nature and preserving the natural greenery.

The West Bengal CM also shared the video of her jogging on the mountains of Darjeeling on her official Facebook page.

Earlier on October 24, Mamata Banerjee had also tweeted about the International Day of Climate action and had also encouraged her followers to take all the possible efforts to conserve the environment.

4000 events across 175 countries

On the eve of the International Day of Climate Action, as many as 4000 events were reportedly conducted in 175 countries across the world with hundreds of thousands of people across the globe gathered to call for an end to global warming.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi also brought global warming to the attention of the masses, climate change and plastic pollution on several international as well as domestic forums. During his birthday on October 17, PM Modi during his address on the Sardar Sarovar Dam had pledged to phase out the use of single-use plastic by 2022 in a bid to move towards a cleaner environment and better climate. Thereafter, in the 74th session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA), PM Modi addressed the issues of climate change and protecting the environment. He specifically brought the world's attention to the menace of plastic pollution and reiterated that India vows to ban the use of single-use plastic in a bid to eradicate plastic pollution to move towards a cleaner environment.
