National Approval Ratings: Mamata's TMC projected to lose big time as BJP to gain heavily in West Bengal

Ahead of the Assembly polls, which will be held in 2019, Republic TV, in association with CVoter, has come with the National Approval Ratings to bring forward the mood of the nation in the present time. The Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) is presently in power in the centre, as well as 21 states, either alone or through a coalition of NDA. From being nothing in 2014 to competing toe to toe in 2019 with TMC, BJP is expected to emerge as the best next option to Mamata Banerjee's party. In the previous general elections, TMC had won 34 out of 42 seats, proving their dominance in the state. Congress was the second best with four seats, with BJP winning two, same as the CPM But if the National Approval Ratings is anything to go by, then TMC has a lot to ponder. According to the latest predictions, their seat-share will fall down to a mere 25, with NDA becoming the biggest beneficiary of it, ending with 16 seats. The Congress-led UPA will see their seat share fall down to a solitary one. In terms of vote share, BJP had 16.9% in 2014, but it has shot up to 31.2%. TMC, in power in West Bengal, sees just a 0.2% decrease in its vote share, but the impact of it on seats is huge. CPM are the biggest losers in terms of vote share, falling from 29.6% to 14.9%. (The results of the 2019 Lok Sabha elections may or may not reflect the results or scenarios of the state assembly elections, nevertheless, to establish where we stand at present, Republic TV and CVoter has presented the National Approval Ratings.)
