Omar Abdullah, Mehbooba Mufti express condolences on sudden demise of former Delhi CM Sheila Dikshit

Reacting to the sudden demise of former Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit on Saturday, NC vice-president Omar Abdullah has said that  she was a very warm and affectionate lady who did wonders for Delhi as the Chief Minister. He added that she will be greatly missed, praying for her soul.

Reacting to the sudden demise of former Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit on Saturday, NC vice-president Omar Abdullah has said that she was a very warm and affectionate lady who did wonders for Delhi as the Chief Minister. He added that she will be greatly missed, praying for her soul.

His fellow Kashmiri politician and PDP chief Mehbooba Mufti too expressed her condolences on the sudden demise of Sheila Dikshit saying that she transformed Delhi in her tenure as Chief Minister.

The 81-year old Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee chief Sheila Dikshit passed away on Saturday. She died while undergoing a heart surgery in New Delhi's Fortis Hospital. Sources also report that she breathed her last at 03:55 PM.

Sheila Dikshit as Delhi CM:

Born on  31 March 1938, she was the longest-serving Chief Minister of Delhi, serving for a period of 15 years from 1998 to 2013.

Dikshit led Congress party to three consecutive electoral victories in Delhi. In the December 2013 elections to the Delhi Legislative Assembly, Dikshit was defeated in New Delhi constituency by Aam Aadmi Party leader Arvind Kejriwal, who replaced her as Delhi's chief minister.

Subsequently, she was sworn in as Governor of Kerala on 11 March 2014. The Congress party fought the recent Lok Sabha elections in Delhi under her leadership.
